On yer’ Bike Simon!
Our very own service engineer Simon Hibbert has committed to cycle 60 miles from Manchester to Blackpool on Sunday 8th July in order to raise £500 for The Christie hospital in Greater Manchester.
Simon, by his own admission, is a 40 something novice cyclist who felt he had reached a point in his life where he needed to give a bit back! With that in mind he selected to undertake this mammoth challenge in order to raise as much money as he could for a worthwhile cause.
Simon has been in training since March and the cycling has had a transformative impact on his mental and physical health. “I have dropped a few pounds and my clothes are significantly loser, which is great, however it is mentally where I feel I have noticed the biggest change. I now feel as though I can achieve anything that I set my mind too, which is lucky because I’ve got to cycle 60 miles in a few weeks no matter what!”
The Christie is a pioneering Cancer hospital and charity that focuses on four main areas research, treatment, education and additional patient services. It is a world-renowned name in the fight against this horrifying illness. Simon has selected to support The Christie after a close friend of his was treated there and made a successful recovery.
We are tremendously proud here at Leemic that Simon has decided to take on this grueling task and we would like to wish him all the luck and support in the world.
